Adults who successfully pass the GED Tests in Florida are awarded a State of Florida High School Diploma.

GED Testing Program Information
The GED examination is comprised of five tests: "Language Arts Writing (two-parts), Language Arts Reading, Social Studies, Science, and a Mathematics exam (two-parts). All tests are multiple-choice, grid response, and written essay. Candidates who pass the GED Examination receive a State of Florida High School Diploma from the Florida State Department of Education. The passing scores are 410 on each of the five sub-tests with an overall minimum score of 2250. Applicants are strongly encouraged to take the Official GED Practice Test prior to taking the Official GED Examination. Results of the GED Practice Test give an excellent indication of potential success on the GED Examination and can identify any areas where scores could be improved.

Nearly all United States colleges and universities accept the GED diploma as a high school equivalency credential. GED Tests can not be used as a substitute for placement or admissions tests. To determine if a particular branch of the military will accept the GED, it is recommended that the examinee contact his/her local recruiting office. The Commission on Educational Credit and Credentials recommends that postsecondary institution officials, employers, training program officials, licensing boards and all branches of the armed services accept the high school credential awarded on the basis on the results of the GED Tests in the same manner as they accept regular high school diplomas.
